When I left the corporate workforce in 2010, I made a promise to myself that this next part of my life would be about the pursuit of things that filled me with a sense of purpose. I would invest my whole self in each precious hour of this life chapter wisely, careful not to squander what had been so hard won. The freedom to re-create self authentically, recognizing that being fearless was not the goal. The goal was and is to act fearlessly despite the recognition that the path will not always be free of obstacles, but that it will be the path I have chosen and have dreamt of.

So how does a former Human Resources Executive transform into a Chef? The trite answer is something along the lines of the predictable response such as culinary school, hard-work, dedication, long hours and blind faith. What I want to share with you is that like any good recipe, each of these items is but an ingredient that when prepared with the right technique, the right tools, just the right amount of attention to detail and enough confidence in what your instincts tell you, the dish (in this case the dream) emerges as a delicacy to be savored. And that’s just what has happened since having opened Morsels as You Wish.

I have spent quite a bit of time pondering what the content of my first chat with you would be. Many concepts have been considered, mulled, pondered and ultimately tossed. Should I wax poetic about the virtues of a particular seasonal vegetable? Perhaps pay homage to the summer garden? Or just some pithy story about life behind the kitchen door. Nothing seemed to fit. And then it struck me. I think I’d like to simply tease you a bit about things to come.

I invite you to return to this page in the upcoming days, weeks and months and join me for some fun as we explore all things culinary. There will be quick kitchen tips, delicious recipes, stories of successes and failures in the kitchen. Stories about life behind the kitchen door, memories of the food and traditions of family gatherings, lessons learned from famous Chef’s and not so famous Chef’s. Tricks taught to me by Granny, even a few of her recipes modernized to fit today’s eating style. There will be thoughts about differing dietary approaches like gluten-free, what we have come to call super foods and paleo. There will be the occasional restaurant review because goodness knows not all restaurants are created equal!

But most of all this blog will be about what I hope each of you do at least once a day. Something that is near and dear to the spirit of this part of my life. If you’ve ever attended one of my classes you know what I’m about to say. So why don’t we do it together. This blog is about breaking a rule that your mother drilled into your polite little head. From this moment on I am giving you permission to do something she would never have allowed. Are you ready to join me as together, across these pages we “PLAY WITH OUR FOOD!!”

Be back soon, I promise!
